Apple adds iTunes Latino

Apple today launched iTunes Latino, a dedicated area within the US iTunes Store featuring top Latin music, music videos, TV shows, audiobooks, and podcasts. iTunes Latino offers hundreds of thousands of Latin and international music tracks, including exclusive tracks and albums available only on iTunes, according to the company. The iTunes Latino area on the iTunes Store is dedicated to Latin and Latin influenced music in many genres including Regional Mexicano, Rock Alternativo, Baladas y Boleros, Pop Latino, Reggaeton and Hip-Hop. "We're thrilled to offer customers their favorite Latin music and video programming with iTunes Latino," said Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes. "Latin music has been a huge hit on iTunes and now we're bringing music fans even more of what they love in a dedicated area on the iTunes Store."

iTunes Latino includes exclusives, albums, EP's, and tracks from leading Latino artists such as David Bisbal, Daddy Yankee, Aterciopelados, Marco Antonio Solis, Paulina Rubio, Mana, Cafe Tacuba, and Luny Tunes y Tainy, with exclusive music videos from Juanes, Mach & Daddy, and Luis Fonsi. The new area also offers more than 50 Latin-focused iTunes Essentials compilations and Celebrity Playlists by artists such as Sergio Mendes, Julieta Venegas and Alejandra Guzman are available for download. Hit TV shows from Telemundo such as "Pasion de Gavilanes" and "'El Cuerpo del Deseo" are also available, in addition to a number of Spanish audiobooks and podcasts.

Sad

I have always valued the Latino programming on iTunes. But I think it's sad that Apple has chosen to filter Race/Ethnicity in such a preferential manner as "iTunes Latino".

I can see the value in giving preference to select playlists, channels, celebrity or even coffee stores - but please leave Racial/Ethnic "store-ing" out of it. I thought Apple was above that.

ITMS not available in Mex

Unfortunely ITMS is not available in Mexico, I wonder why we are no "elegibles " to purchase thru ITMS the music we want including the " Latino Music ". Personally I think Apple is missing a huge market, in Mexico we love and live with Music. Frustating.... is like going to a candy shop and just watch without having a chance to buy what you want !!!
