PowerMail 5.5 comes to Intel Macs

CTM Development has released PowerMail 5.5, bringing native compatibility for Intel-based Macs to the anti-spam email software as a Universal Binary. PowerMail features enhanced filtering mechanisms which include a spam filter assistant and close integration of SpamSieve. The update includes the most recent Universal Binary version of SpamSieve, and Core searching includes the latest optimizations shared with FoxTrot 1.1 Personal Search. PowerMail 5.5 supports zip compression to replace the prior third-party solution, and can attach applications as well as other file packages to a message from the "add attachment" button or menu. The update is free for PowerMail 5 owners, e30 for PowerMail 3/4 owners or e45 with SpamSieve, and e50 for new users. PowerMail requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

The latest version of PowerMail fixes a bug where copying an email address from an address book contact window could fail, and fixes a crash that could occur when scrolling through certain HTML messages using a scroll-wheel. The update resolves an issue that could cause the connection to a POP server to hang, fixes an error that could occur when importing some PowerMail Exchange files containing garbled attachment names, and changes the character set encoding of displayed messages which produced unamiable results. Additional changes include a bug fix in the license displayed in the about box, as well as the correction of copying and pasting text in Tex-Edit on Intel-based Macs.

I've used PowerMail for 5 years and really like it. Searches thru 1000s of messages are done in seconds. The small Swiss company that developed PM is constantly improving it. Switched to PM when I was tired of using Emailer in Classic in OS X.

Now that's a name I've not heard of in years! Was indeed the tops of Mac email programs for its time.

Thanks for the memory lane moment.

I have to agree. As with telem, I started using it when I dumped OS 9 and Emailer. Its a ton better then Mail.app, and a lot more configurable and easier to use.

Of course, I'm probably going to get sued by CTM, as I've probably just drove all other users away from the software...
