New MacBook battery ships

Battery Geek today began shipping its 140 watt/hour Portable Power Station, an external battery featuring an optional connector that supports both MacBooks and MacBook Pros to extend their portable running time significantly. The company claims that Apple's power-hungry MacBook Pro can last up to six additional hours on the lithium-ion based adapter. The device can also charge iBooks and PowerBooks, most Windows laptops, and USB-powered devices including the iPod, according to Electronista. Battery Geek's Portable Power Station is available for $400. [corrected]

    MacBook Connector

i think the story should read that the MacBook connector is 'optional'... not 'optical'.

they don't ship the macbook connector unlss you ask for it. its optional.

    optical connector?

Huh? You cannot transfer battery energy (electron current) using an optical connector.

In fact optical "connectors" (isolators) are used on sensitive electronics to isolate external data signals from the electrical domain of the part it is interfacing with.

I guess you meant "optional"... looks like you poorly copied text from electronista.

    units?

    That's watt hour, not watt/hour.

    "According to..."

That's an incredibly misleading statement. "According to Electronista" really means "according to us" because electronista is part of MacNN. Nice misleading bit of "journalism" there. This makes twice in 2 days you've quoted yourself to make it seem like you're getting reports from elsewhere. Cool.

    Links?

Why does the article link to the Electronista site, with a rehash of what we just read, instead of the products web site?

    re: links?

Because they want to increase traffic to one of their other "news" sites. "Electronista" is a MacNN site. MacNN is going downhill fast.
