iTunes 7.0.1 fixes CoverFlow issues

updated 02:00 pm EDT, Wed September 27, 2006

Apple updates iTunes

Apple today released an update to its iTunes multimedia software, addressing stability as well as performance issues with Cover Flow, CD importing, iPod syncing, and more. iTunes 7.0, which Apple released during its special event in San Francisco on September 12th, recently came under fire as numerous users complained of problems ranging from video download issues to an inability to access the online store. The update requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, or Windows 2000/XP.

    No Coverflow fix for me.

This update has NOT fixed the screen/video issues I've had since iTunes 7 came out with the Cover Flow...

shows a typical screen mess that happens after clicking the icon for Cover Flow. Once this happens only parts of the window scroll, other columns remain "stuck".

The only recovery is to quit and then relaunch iTunes.

I have a 1680 x 1050 display on a PowerMac Dual 1.25 GHz FireWire 800 machine with a GeForce4 MX video card with 32 MB RAM (the original Radeon 9000 when bad and I had this card here left from another machine).

Maybe you have too much stuff on your dock. Just kidding, but dang!

    I have not seen this...

...issue either. And Koolkid1976 is right, look at that dock of yours! If you have to squint to see the items in your dock, it seems pointless. ;-)

    No Fix

This update didn't fix the "sticky button" issue I have been having on my Macbook where if I click any button within iTunes I have to scroll off of the button before it will release it. It also didn't fix the Coverflow scroll issue. Sometimes Coverflow will zip along between album art which is real neat, other times it just abruptly jumps to the next album art.

    Not in ASU for Windows

The iTunes 7.0.1 update isn't available through Apple Software Update for Windows - I wonder why Apple released ASU if they're not going to use it?

    Dumb question for thekiwi

If you change the size of your iTunes window to be about 1024x768 or even 1280x1024 does it have that artifacting problem ??

Maybe the User Interface isn't expecting someone to use a window that big.

Well, that's the standard resolution of the 20"-iMacs, isn't it. And for a company that ships a 30-incher, they sure should expect people to go laaaarge. :-)

    file a bug...

Once again, complaining here about Apple regarding issues on your Mac is useless. If Apple doesn’t know about your problem, how will they be able to fix it?

If you have a problem, report it to Apple through their bugreport website.
