TGS: F. Mission, Rv. Wings

We're certainly getting a lot of news out of TGS before it's even begun! Famitsu says that Square-Enix will be resurrecting Front Mission 1st, its 2003 mech strategy game, and porting it to the Nintendo DS. The game will come to Japan this winter with new mechs and an added character from Front Mission 5. Also on Square's plate is Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, a FFXII side-story being helmed by Motome Torishima (FFX-2, FFXIII). Providing new information, Torishima describes it as a somewhat simplified DS game for newcomers to the FF series. Players control an 18-year-old Vaan as he and Panelo first become air pirates. The game will be controlled mainly through the touchpad, and some of the more complex battle options will be stripped out. On the plus side, gamers will be able to traverse the map from the moment Wings starts.
