Ikaruga sequel in works?

Treasure has a quiet fame outside of its Japanese home, but one that's well-deserved. The developer has a number of classic games to its credit - these include Gunstar Heroes, Guardian Heroes, Wario World, and of course, Ikaruga. Spotted by a reader of Retro Gaming, a report in UK magazine Play says that Treasure is now working on an "original shooting game" for the Xbox 360. It's suggested that this could be "Project RS3," a codename for the final shmup in the trilogy begun with Radiant Silvergun and followed by Ikaruga. The choice of platform would be an odd one though; Treasure's biggest fanbase is in Japan, and the 360 has sold miserably there. Of course, an Ikaruga sequel might be just the kick the system needs.
