Fantom ships 1.5TB MegaDisk storage

Fantom Drives today introduced the latest addition to its line of disk-based storage products with the launch of its MegaDisk 1.5TB capacity prosumer drives. The new MegaDisk 1.5TB disk storage system provides "best-in-class" capacity, according to the company; it features the latest SATA drive technology and high-speed FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 external interfaces. Fantom says its drive technologies allow it to manufacture enclosures that are 25 percent smaller while simultaneously providing 50 percent higher capacity than competitive products. The G-Force MegaDisk features Fantom Drives' iconic rugged aluminum design and delivers Firewire 800 bus speeds of 88MB/s when leveraging the native hardware RAID 0 striping enabled by the Oxford Semiconductor 924 chipset. The G-Force MegaDisk is available now in four capacities 500GB ($270), 800GB ($500), 1.0TB ($580) and 1.5TB ($1000).
