Apple launches ad campaign

Apple has launched a major print campaign for its products that will appear in the September 8th issue of Entertainment Weekly, as well as other major magazines across the U.S. The white detachable insert features a cover asking consumers "what's the difference between a Mac and a PC?," an inside cover describing Apple's view on the basic differences between the platforms, and a back cover displaying quotes from industry names regarding Apple's products. The third page includes a detachable 14-page folded booklet with an iMac on the cover that includes informational pages covering iChat AV, iMovie, iPhoto, iWeb, Dashboard, GarageBand, Microsoft Office compatibility, and more. Good.

It's always nice to see some agressive advertising from Apple.

Now, if they would just ship my Mac Pro already, I will happily show it off to potential customers!!

    bravo

This type of advertising is similar to past print campaigns but they haven't done it in some time.

I was hoping for something similar way back when OSX first came out of beta....

my first impression is that these ads have a tiring amount of words. when it comes to print ads, lots to read = quickly turned off, IMO

    What about 24"??

It seems that the text of the ad is already out of date! Page 11 of the booklet only mentions 17" and 20" iMacs! It's amazing how close to the vest Apple keeps their product announcements; they don't even notify their ad agency of upcoming product line changes, not even when they are just about to launch a fresh new campaign!

    re: what about 24"??

It seems that the text of the ad is already out of date! I believe most printed advertising lead times are on the order of around 60 days which would also account for why the Mac Pro is missing.

I guess it isn't too surprising that they don't trust their ad agency since they leave most of their own employees in the dark like the rest of us.
