Apple confirms Sept. 12th event

I can see a movie store, I can see a new video iPod, but a new iMac, and another one more thing? That makes no sense, marketing-wise. The new iMac will be completley ignored (oooh, an imac with a larger screen, but still no room for two hard drives or a video card slot). And any one-more thing will either be completly overshadowed by the overblown video store news ("woohoo, we can spend way too much money for crappy looking movies!") or the one more thing ("Wow! A cell phone! I can make calls from anywhere? What a great idea!") will take away the hype of the movie store.

Hopefully Merom MacBook Pros will be the "one more thing..." If so, for those of us waiting for new MBPs they will not be overshadowed by anything.

Regardless, this is more likely than an iPhone. As much as I'd love to have a true Apple phone, I'd rather have the choice of an MBP with better hardware.

Ok Testudo.. and thats the only thing that Apple cares about. Hype. Is that right? Who cares if one product trumps another, or even what order they announce them? How could that have any bearing on future business? Oh yea.. none.

re movie store: 480i trailers look SWEET on my 50" DLP. Will movies be in 480i? doubtful, but with increasing broadband, who knows...

re phone: yea.. That's exactly why Apple's selling a phone. So people can make calls from anywhere. Since Apple knows that the mp3 market may not last, do you think.. maybe, just maybe.. that Apple is prepping themselves for the fall of the iPod and making a phone/iPod? Naw.. that would be beyond your miniscule intelligence, so I doubt they'd do that!

Am I the only person NOT interested in a 23" iMac?

I'd rather watch my movies on a 37" LCD HDTV, thank you. I'm not going to sit at a desk with a 23" iMac to watch my movies and it's too small for everyone to watch from across the room on the sofa.

I turned down a 5G iPod for my 40th from the wife in hopes of a new widescreen iPod this fall..... Don't Let Me Down Steve!!! I'd also love a new update to Front Row. Movies? $10 for oldies would be a bit steep for sub-DVD quality. Updated MBP? Seems like I just bought my existing MBP!

Movie downloads and VidPod-Yes. iPhone?-maybe. I doubt much else will be unveiled... except, perhaps, a media streaming device (Airport Express update). Just tired of getting my hopes up lately re: Apple.

This event will be about movie downloads and a new iPod to play them, perhaps with a doc/device to play movies on your TV. The phone thing isn't ready for announcement and iMac/MacBook upgrades aren't worth a big event like this. I won't be surprised to see them updated with a press release around the same time, but they won't get Steve time.

Having said that, whatever iPod gets announced I'll be either buying it that day or putting it on my Christmas wish list.

...that's all i'm personally hoping for. but it would be nice to see a buncha cool stuff just to make Testudo weep. and to continue to bolster the stock. but mostly to make Testudo continue to look foolish, quarter after quarter.
