FW Depot SATA subsystems

FireWire Depot today unveiled three new SATA subsystem modules featuring aluminum cooling bodies and removable, hot swappable fans. The MB453 is constructed to fit three SATA I or II drives within a two 5.25-inch bay fitting, while the MB454 fits four SATA I or II drives within a three 5.25-inch bay fitting. FireWire Depot's MB455 fits four SATA I or II drives within a five 5.25-inch bay fitting. All subsystems require no tools or special wiring to remove the replaceable hot swappable fan. The MB453, MB454, and MB455 SATA subsystems are available for $120, $150, and $180, respectively.

    How is this Mac news?

Let's see... fits in 5 1/4 drive bays...

Anyone tell me when the last Mac we could buy with empty front-accessible drivebays was? By my count it was the beige G3.

Come on Macnn... I've been reading this site for 4-5 years, and there is less and less "Mac" knowledge, and more and more "tech regurgitation" here.

This is not a Mac product, nor will it fit any shipping Macintosh product.

It will fit my Antec sonata case nicely, but that has a PC motherboard inside, not a Mac.

    HUH???

ARMWT, isn't this article about external enclosures? I think you need to lay off the caffiene and read more carefully before you rant in error.

    'fraid not

These are not external enclosures... they are "3 into 2" bays to fit PC tower cases. (fit 3 drives into 2 drive bay spaces). These are NOT designed for macs, and are not compatible with anything Apple sells.

Macnn is full of things like this... stuff that has nothing to do with Macs. Almost as bad as dealmac... they used to specialize in "Mac" deals, now it's just another "who has the cheapest compact flash card" website.
