Xcode adds 64-bit support

Apple has released Xcode Tools 2.4, adding support for 64-bit Intel development along with the ability to create four-architecture Universal applications. Xcode Tools 2.4 supports development for Jaguar, Panther, and Tiger as well as the ability to produce Universal Binaries on Mac OS X 10.4 using Mac OS X SDK support. Xcode Tools 2.4 features selected fixes to the Xcode IDE, cctools, debugger, and compiler. The update also fixes bugs and enhances performance in several areas over Xcode 2.3, according to Apple. "Most notably, stepping behavior when debugging DWARF binaries has been made more precise, and Dedicated Network Builds (DNB) has received several usability fixes." Apple updated the 10.4u SDK (Software Development Kit) for development with Mac OS X 10.4.7, and updated CHUD to version 4.4.0.
