Apple has announced the winners of its Apple Design Awards 2006, recognizing technical excellence and outstanding achievement on Mac OS X. Winning developers receive prizes, and their winnings are showcased at WWDC 2006, Macworld 2007, and the Apple website. This year's winners include TextMate 1.5.2 as the best Developer Tool; modo 201 as the best use of graphics; iClip lite 2.0 as the best Dashboard Widget; Build Real Estate Catalog/Ultimate Productivity Action Pack 1.0 as the best Automator Workflow; iSale 3.1 as the best user experience; The Sims 2 1.0 Rev E as the best game; EnzymeX 3.1 as the best scientific computing solution; and Lineform 1.1 as the best student product.
Apple also lists each runner up in all categories. Second-place contestants consist of F-Script 1.3.3 for the best developer tool; Unity 1.5 for the best use of graphics; WeatherBug Local Weather Widget 1.1.0.9 for the best Dashboard Widget; Lecture Recording Workflow 1.2 for the best Automator Workflow; Boinx FotoMagico 1.7 for the best user experience; WingNuts 2: Raina's Revenge 1.0 for the best game; FuzzMeasure Pro 2.0.2 for the best scientific computing solution; and PhotoPresenter 2.5.5 for the best student project.
