Wii-DS connectivity
If Nintendo's Satoru Iwata has his way, your Wii and your DS could be intimately linked - beyond Zelda that is. The latest Nintendo Magazine quotes Iwata as saying Wi-Fi should make connecting the two systems very easy, and as a result, there should be many applications. The Wii may be used to fetch demos for the DS for instance, while the DS may be used as a controller for Wii games where touch is useful. One real-world application is coming in the form of Pokémon Battle Revolution, set to release in Japan later this year. Players will be able to use a DS loaded with Pokémon Diamond or Pearl as a controller for the Wii game.
The article also details plans for Wii Connect 24, and for more mass-market content on Nintendo systems, using titles like Brain Age, Wii Sports, and an upcoming DS cookbook program as examples. Iwata says he wants software that will become integral to a person's daily existence, and to that effect a number of titles are already in the works, although nothing specific is mentioned.
