Gangs of London leak
Sony UK is confirming that an internal beta of their PSP game Gangs of London has been leaked to BitTorrent sites. Spokesman David Wilson told GamesIndustry.biz that the beta is buggy and unfinished, and railed against game pirates, charging that "...there are proven links that exist between counterfeiting and organised crime and that has some serious consequences (and victims) that people should give due consideration." Gangs of London is a spinoff of the Getaway series of games for the PS2.

Counterfeiting?
I find it interesting that Mr. Wilson would call the piracy of games "counterfeiting". To counterfeit, you're making a copy of something to deceive or defraud -- your customer has to believe that the product in question is genuine for that logic to work. Nobody in their right mind would think that a game downloaded from BitTorrent trackers like TPB is the genuine article. (Exception is made, obviously, to torrented games from the dev's own site and the like).
I would ask Mr. Wilson not to insult people by using such faulty logic.
