    Mac to Linux

This is waaay exagerated and I think written more from a personal opinion than a factual thing. I've tried Ubuntu and while its nice, its no where near as fast as OS X on the same machine, and it feels too much like Windoze. Its got tons of apps and free utilities which is great but does not have the comfortable non-alienating feel that Mac OS X have. Your everyday Joe won't come within 100miles of Linux.

    Linux AND MAC

I use all three (WIN/MAC/LINUX) and each has its advantages. Windows biggest advantage (tons of software) is becoming less and less a factor as great apps appear on Linux and OS X.

However, Linux is still just too hard to use for the average consumer. Try pulling the plug . The file system does not recover as nicely and cleanly as OS X (trust me, I have done this). Although during normal usage, Linux disks are less likely to c*** out on me (again, from my experience).

Try installing or upgrading software on Linux. It can be a daunting task. And the Kernal upgrades can be scary.

Regarding Software, as nice as the GIMP is, there is nothing to compare with PhotoShop, Dreamweaver Flash, Quark. Yes, they are expensive, but for the professional, they are worth every penny.

Linux is still a few years away from becoming a real threat to OS X or Windows

    yeah, right

Yeah, right, like my mom & dad are gonna switch to UBUNTU LINUX. Give me a break. Maybe 1 person in my ENTIRE STATE will switch to Ubuntu Linux... the rest of the country is too busy switching to Mac OS X: an operating system that is actually designed for humans to use, not uber-geeks & uber-engineers.

    stolen from digg?

These articles all appeared on Digg yesterday. I've noticed this happening quite a bit on MacNN. Are they lifting their content from Digg?

    re: stolen

MacNN gets the same press releases and news feeds as everyone else, so it's not surprising it has some identical content. But, certainly it does seem to scan other news sources, and you'll sometimes see it credit these or even link directly to other sites.

In this case I don't know, but perhaps it did.
