Spending one week at an Apple Store

Spending a few hours or the day at the local Apple Store can be a chaotic, but interesting experience, but spending an entire week is something that was never possible before--at least until the opening of Apple's 24-7 flagship Fifth Avenue retail store in Manhattan. Following the bizarre trapped in an elevator experience, one blog is documenting an attempt to spend an entire week at Apple's new Manhattan store, as the exploration of a completely new kind of experience: "What would happen if a daring young go-getter were to confine his or herself to the 24-hour Apple Store for seven straight days? Trapped in that glass cube, with nothing to breathe but the smug exhalations of satisfied iMac buyers, could this person handle the strain of non-stop exposure to iPod Nanos, to people griping at the Genius Bar? Or would they starve to death? Perish due to exhaustion?"

The Suicide Girls have recruited member named "fakecake" to document this event as "she attempts to channel her inner David Blaine and survive in midtown Manhattan's new Apple Store, trapped underground with little more than moxie, MacBooks, and the desire to blog about her sure-to-be-thrilling experience in ultra-nonstop realtime..."

that must be the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. Couldn't this person do something slightly more constructive with their free week? How about feeding the homeless? Working with Habitat for Humanity? Bringing meals to the elderly and AIDS patients? Good grief.

Get an original idea and come back later. This has already been tried, unsuccessfully, at a Wal-Mart just recently. While I think this person is an idiot, at least it is an Apple Store.

You all have no concept of exactly why you visit suicidegirls.com, do you? How is your parents' basement treating you?

Umm, I don't think many people can stay away for 168 hours straight. She's going to need to sleep. Where is that going to happen? And loitering? To stay in a store 24 hours a day is going to require support of the store.

That should have said "stay awake." Man. My comments have lots of typos tonight.

What a waste of time. Retail isn't culture -- do something constructive.

Somebody has a week to spend on something this patently trivial?

I think the Third Horseman just rode by...
