Apple fined $100K by Washington State

Apple has been fined $100,000 by the state of Washington for not registering with the state, as required by law, according to a report by The Puget Sound Business Journal. The state's Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler said that Apple didn't register as a service contract provider from 2000 to 2004, violating a 1999 Washington law required all companies selling service contracts to register with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner. Kreidler, however, noted that his office has not received any complaints regarding Apple's contracts and that Apple has complied with the law by registering.

Mmmm, do you think the State of Washington issues a press release every time native son Bill's company has to pay a fine? I wonder if the Insurance Commissioner is lobbying Microsoft for a campaign contribution? Hack politicians!

It wasn't a press release, just a statement. It probably turned up because in one of the many halls of justice, Apple's money must've passed through.

And, of course, it must be a Bill Gates derived action. Anything that's anti-apple must be due to Bill Gates and his influence.

But how does this help Bill? They're not precluded from selling applecare. They're registered now. In two days, no one will care. If this guy's hoping to get a contribution from Bill, he'd have to do a lot better then this (maybe banning iPods or something, but this?). Man, if anyone is a hack, I'd have to say its you.

Suddenly I am not so proud to be from Washington State.

Why, because they dared fine holier-then-thou Apple Computer for not following the law.

has always f'ing sucked. it should be taken off the map. They should have notified them LONG before now they were not in compliance with the law, Washington state residents like Virginians should be ashamed at their lack of leadership.

testudo = broken record

Maybe MacNN can post the following on the next slow news day. "Testudo claims Apple is not God and is not perfect. Makes fun of other posters to make himself feel better... film at eleven"

Apple didn't follow the law and now got spanked. This doesn't just happen only to Apple. Believe it or not, other companies also are nailed when they don't follow the laws of our states.
