Aspyr Media today announced that Call of Duty 2 has arrived in stores in North America for Mac. Call of Duty 2 attempts to re-define the cinematic intensity and chaos of battle as seen through the eyes of ordinary soldiers fighting together in epic WWII conflicts. The first person action game features enhanced graphics, a new engine, improved artificial intelligence, and choice-based innovations that simulate real warfare. The game features snow, rain, fog, and smoke, combined with dynamic lighting and shadows to create realistic effects. Call of Duty 2 is available for $50, and requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

As a new MBP owner, and current owner of a site devoted to FPS game server setup and administration. I was blown away to find out that this releases does not include the latest patch (v1.2 which includes Punkbuster for online play) here is an email I was sent

This game just hit the shelves last week, so give it a little time and an update will most likely surface. At this point we have had no reports of customers having difficulties with COD2 functionality with PC users.
Aspyr Tech Support You will not be able to connect to the latest servers running 1.2 however you will still be able to play a great game of single player.
