\'Mac Pro\' trademark filing
In Brief: A new (second) Apple trademark filing for 'Mac Pro', this time in the United States Patent and Trademark office, suggests that Apple will drop the "Power" moniker from the names of its professional computer lineup--rumored to be unvieled later this summer at WWDC--and suggests that it may use 'Mac' brand in its future product name, as it has done for the MacBook and MacBook Pro product lines..... Several sites have posted information and a direct download for what they claim is Apple’s new widget development application, Dashcode, which they said has been leaked.... The man who was named as the lead plaintiff in the iPod nano "Scratch" class action lawsuit filed against Apple on October 19th of 2005, has written an open letter to the Mac community in an attempt to clarify his lack of involvement with the lawsuit.... Griffin Technology today unveiled TuneBuds nano, an earbud and lanyard combination for iPod nano.... Apple's iTunes Music Store has helped to fuel broadband value-added services revenues, which jumped up 74 percent during 2005.

Mac Pro
I wonder how Apple is going to handle the mass of companies around the world who have the words Mac Pro as part of their company name. There is a Mac Pro Solutions here in Richmond VA. They are an Apple reseller (no prizes for guessing that). Apple allow resellers, developers, etc to use the Mac trademark as long as it isn't part of another word and so long as certain criteria are met. How about companies like Mac Pro? Is Apple legal going to drop the hammer on these guys? Will they be granted the trademark since half of it is already registered and since several companies have been trading under that name for years.
I hope Apple have a backup plan, like Mac Tower, or Mac Monster or something.
