Apple has posted a series of time lapse photographs from the first 24 hours at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store (along with a general photo gallery), including the opening, where Steve Jobs made an appearance along with thousands of others. One person who came from Texas waited in line for nearly 42 hours through a stormy/rainy pre-opening, while others came from Berkeley and Europe and offered a marriage proposal. Readers said they spotted Spike Lee, Julianne Moore, Elizabeth Berkeley, and others. Meanwhile, CNET News.com has posted interviews with those in line, while Wired News has a report and more photos. Apple has posted a list and photographs of the winners of the free MacBook every hour for the first 24 hours. [corrected]
