FW Depot unveils SeriTek SATA bundles

updated 07:40 pm EDT, Thu May 18, 2006

SeriTek SATA bundles

FireWire Depot today launched the latest SeriTek Serial ATA (SATA) bundles using the new SeriTek/2EN2 two-bay Serial ATA external hard drive enclosure as the core of each bundle. The SeriTek/2EN2 enclosure provides versatile hot-swap capabilities in a small enclosure, and includes the latest eSATA shielded connectors as well as a quiet fan with three user-selectable speeds. The company is offering three options which include the SeriTek/1SM2 PC Card ($280), SeriTek/1eVE4 Host Adapter ($330), and the SeriTek/1SE2 Host Adapter ($290).

SeriTek/1SM2 PC Card

The SeriTek/1SM2 PC Card is a Type II 32-bit Cardbus compatible host adapter that brings Serial ATA 1.5Gbps storage transfer rates to notebooks. The SeriTek/1SM2 shares many features with FirmTek's line of SeriTek host adapters, such as the ability to hot-swap hard disk drives without having to power down the notebook and ease-of-use comparable to USB and FireWire.

SeriTek/1eVE4 Host Adapter

The SeriTek/1eVE4 Host Adapter features four external shielded eSATA Serial ATA ports, each offering 1.5Gbps. The SeriTek/1eVE4 is PCI-X compatible, allowing G5 Power Mac users to take advantage of the system's extended PCI technology while maintaining backward compatibility with older Power Macs.

SeriTek/1SE2 Host Adapter

FireWire Depot's SeriTek/1SE2 Host Adapter extends the Serial ATA 1.5Gbps speed to the outside of the computer chassis, enabling users to take advantage of external Serial ATA enclosures such as the SeriTek/1EN2. The device features two external ports while offering hot-swap flexibility similar to that of USB and FireWire.
