13-inch MacBook case

An accessory designer today introduced the Archetype, a new laptop case designed as a blend of engineering and art. Cases are made from one of three unique fabrics which include "genuine cork" (shown at right), "galvanized majilite," and "snow leopard ultrasuede." Entirely encasing the laptop in .25-inch thick closed cell foam, the padding on all sides protects the notebook from bumps and scrapes. The interior is lined with a soft tricot knit that further shields the device from scratches, and the case includes plastic handles molded over strong webbing to carry the notebook. The Archetype comes in four sizes to fit the 13-inch MacBook, 17-inch MacBook Pro, 15.4-inch MacBook Pro, and 12-inch Powerbook. The 13-inch MacBook model will ship in late July, and is available for pre-order for $100.

The company also released a new version of its Brain Cell hard-shell laptop case specifically designed for the 13-inch MacBook. The size 6 Brain Cell is a simple and minimalist padded sleeve that guards against scrapes and scratches. Priced at $55, the new case is available in five colors consisting of black, crimson, "wasabi," "deep blue," and "steel."
