EarthDesk 3.5 released
Xeric Design today released EarthDesk 3.5, bringing the real-time dynamic desktop map to Intel Macs as a Universal Binary. The software is designed to display city lights, hurricanes, and worldwide weather systems on the desktop. EarthDesk 3.5 date-verifies cloud images, and the cloud server list is updated weekly. EarthDesk replaces the static desktop picture with an image of the Earth showing current sun, moon, and city illumination as well as real-time global cloud coverage. Using high resolution satellite base maps, multiple images are layered together to produce a view of the Earth. The software operates silently in the background, constantly updating the desktop. Unlike a screen saver -- which only activates when the system is idle -- EarthDesk's dynamic desktop is continuously displayed as a desktop image. EarthDesk requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later, and is priced at $20.
