New iPod TV ad

In brief: Apple has begun airing a new iPod + iTunes TV commercial featuring the same silhouetted dancers as in its previous ads, this time with psychedelic background colors and a 60's-style influence.... The OSx86 Project has put out a call to rally MacBook Pro owners experiencing whining and heat issues, asking them to call Apple Support on May 20th, 2006 and tell them about the problems in an effort to hold the company accountable.... Apple may be planning to unveil a replacement for its 12-inch PowerBook as early as May 9th.... Development of a 13-inch widescreen Apple notebook was completed last month, according to AppleInsider, and the company is awaiting a signal from its marketing division to begin manufacturing ramp and rollout procedures.... Warner Music Group has posted a less-than-expected loss due to rising U.S. CD sales and digital music revenues.

Noisy MBP

I got our first MBP at work a while ago and figured it was new enough to not have the "whine". Apparently it does though but since the last two G4 PowerBooks I had at work made the same noise I didn't think much of it.

Quiet MBP

My MBP (2 GHz serial number W8610xxxxxx) is nearly silent except for some occasional fan noise. It does get hot but I haven't seen or heard any of the other problems. It's much quieter than my old 15" PBG4.

The only whining I hear is my cat wanting to go out and people whining about the MBP noise.

other matters

Let me be first to rant here on a matter other than MBP. Warner posted 'less than expected loss'; digital downloads are to be credited (among other things). Once again, how in the world would they survive, had there not been for iTMS and the extra revenue...???

The story of the big music labels is just so sad... It would be nice (for all those musicians, as well as us, consumers) if the labels would just die their natural death. Now, thanks to SJ and iTMS, they got a new lease on life.
