Onset launches data logger

Onset Computer has launched the HOBO Water Temp Pro 2, a new Mac-compatible data logger for tracking water temperatures in a broad range of applications, from coral reef studies to stream habitat research. The device features a durable polypropylene housing able to withstand years of use in fresh or salt water up to 50-degrees Celsius, and can measure and record water temperatures for more than one year before reaching memory capacity. The HOBO Water Temp Pro 2 offers compatibility with Onset's new HOBO Waterproof Shuttle to provide safe data transport, features reliable data offload via a USB interface, and boasts a depth rating of up to 400 feet. The HOBO Water Temp Pro 2 is available for $110 (system requirements were unavailable).

For plotting and analyzing water temperature data, Onset offers an intuitive graphing and analysis software package for Macs called HOBOware software. HOBOware provides a user-friendly graphical user interface and enables users to quickly and easily plot, analyze and print data files, as well as export data to spreadsheet programs.

Specifications
HOBO Water Temp Pro 2 offers a measurement range of -20 to 50-degrees Celsius in water, or -20 to 70-degrees Celsius in air. The device provides accuracy of plus or minus 0.2-degrees Celsius at 0 to 50-degrees Celsius, and features resolution of 0.02-degrees Celsius at 25-degrees Celsius. Time accuracy consists of plus or minus one minute per month, and the data logger stores approximately 42,000 12-bit measurements before reaching capacity.
