WMV coming to Intel Macs
Telestream today announced development plans for its Windows Media Components for QuickTime, placing Universal support for Intel-powered Macs at the top of its list of key development projects currently in progress. The software is slated for release some time within the next quarter, and will add Windows Media playback support to QuickTime Player as well as Web browsers. "Support for Apple’s new Intel-based products is a top priority for us," said Dan Castles, CEO of Telestream. "With over a million downloads of the Windows Media Components for QuickTime to date, user response has exceeded our expectations. We are not only committed to ongoing support and development, but also look forward to releasing additional important new features and product enhancements which are currently in process."

WMV isn't 'coming' to Intel Macs. It's already here. http://www.popwire.com/product_info.php?products_id=7

Popwire limited

Although Popwire is a godsend, it's only limited to WMV-9 within QuickTime Player. It does not support earlier WMV codecs (must use VLC or MPlayer for those) and does not plug into web browsers like Safari. Flip4Mac will do both.

I tried Popwire on some fairly high resolution movies on my MacBook Pro and the video was choppy. I'm hoping that Flip4Mac's components will play much more smoothly.

popwire not good..

popwire is meant for just some very vertical market niche applications, and is not a general purpose plugin for Quicktime - flip4mac is worth the wait. These guys do a much better job.
