Power Mac G5 firmware
Apple has released yet another update to its Late 2004 1.8GHz single-processor Power Mac G5 v1.1--this time for Tiger users. The update, now released for Mac OS X 10.4, fixes issues where the machine stops responding randomly. "This update is only for the 1.8 GHz, single-processor Power Mac G5 (Late 2004) computer and supports installation on Mac OS X 10.4.3 or later. Also improves the reliability of your Power Mac G5, especially after it has been inactive for two hours." Apple also provided a note about the installation: "After installing the firmware update, there will be a residual folder installed on your hard drive called "AppleInternal". Inside that folder is another folder called 'PackageDataTools'. Inside that folder is an application called 'Lurk-n-Launch'. You can safely delete the folder and its contents."
