Portal 3.0 offers email broadcasting

InResonance today released Portal 3.0, an admission and enrollment solution for schools and educational institutions. Based on FileMaker Pro 8, the software manages the entire admission cycle from inquiry to decision, as well as enrollment and re-enrollment. Optional Portal Web Services provide integrated Web capabilities including online inquiries, applications, and decision notification. Portal is easy to use and can be customized by non-technical users, with version 3.0 offering built-in HTML email broadcasting. The update offers enhanced security features such as connectivity to Open Directory and Active Directory, as well as more granular control of screens and fields. Data can be encrypted on the network, and the improved database engine driving the Portal is significantly faster with version 3.0. Portal 3.0 is available now, and requires FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Server 8 (pricing was unavailable).

A relational structure easily accommodates multiple families per child and multiple children per family. Families can log in to a secure website to learn the status of their application and receive their decision. Inquiries taken online can be filtered, reviewed, and electronically transferred into the system.

Emails, letters, labels, and reports are all merged and generated directly, without the need to export to Excel, Word or Crystal reports. Reports and views can be customized, and provide easy querying without requiring that users know SQL. Portal 3.0 is also cross-platform, supporting mixed computing environments and data sharing between Windows and Mac systems.

The application tracks and reports on inquiries, applications, recommendations, transcripts, file reading, decisions, interviews, tours, visits, sources, and feeder schools. Additionally, Portal 3.0 includes both PDF Maker and Excel Maker capabilities, allowing users to convert data into PDF and Excel documents to share with people who do not have access to Portal.
