ExtremeZ-IP v4.21 for Intel-based Macs
The latest version of ExtremeZ-IP uses Intel-compatible authentication methods allowing Intel-based Mac clients to connect to the Windows file server with an encrypted login. Group Logic notes that the SFM login process has not been updated and causes users of Intel Macs to revert to an insecure, unencrypted log-in method, posing a significant security risk for organizations. With full compatibility to the Intel-based Macs, ExtremeZ-IP uses the Apple recommended Kerberos or DHX-based authentication and does not require end-user software to be installed on the Mac.
“This latest version of ExtremeZ-IP reinforces Group Logic’s ongoing commitment to deliver solutions that are up-to-date with Apple’s desktop innovations,” said T. Reid Lewis, President of Group Logic. “As more Mac users begin to migrate to the Intel-based platform, it is imperative that we be able to offer alternative solutions for file sharing between Mac desktops and Windows servers. ExtremeZ-IP offers the compatibility without compromise as users deploy Intel-based Mac OS X computers.”
ExtremeZ-IP File Server v4.2.1 is available immediately at Group Logic's web site and is free to customers who own licenses for version 4.0 or higher and have an active Maintenance and Support Contract. Customers using prior versions of the product must purchase an upgrade to take advantage of the new 4.2.1 version features. (Pricing not available.)
