Proteus 4.12 multi-client chat now free

Defaultware today announced its multi-client chat program, Proteus 4.12, is now free. Currently users must go through the purchase steps to get the free price, but Deafultware plans to release a version soon that will remove the process completely, as well as offer Universal Binary version of the application. Proteus supports most IM accounts, including AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, ICQ, Jabber, Google Talk, iChat Bonjour, Gadu Gadu, Sametime, and more. "Extras" allow the user to customize the appearance of Proteus, which also supports drag-and-drop file transfers for MSN, Yahoo!, AIM, and Jabber. Proteus joins the ranks of free chat client programs along with AdiumX-- a messaging application that allows Mac OS X users to connect to AIM, MSN, Jabber, Yahoo, Google, and more.
