Screen protector, cleaner

ShaggyMac announced two new products to its line of laptop accessories--OptiMist Prime and MacBook Pro Screen Protector. The 15.4-inch MacBook Pro Screen Protector (pictured) cushions the laptop's delicate screen when the lid is closed. It prevents marks and scuffs which are caused from keyboard/trackpad contact. It is made from ShaggyMac's TrueMicro cloth and doubles as an Optical Polishing Cloth. The screen protector is available in Stealth Grey, Panther Black, Bottom Blue, or Big Red and costs $13. OptiMist Prime is a biodegradable, molecular level formula, engineered to clean the most sensitive optical surfaces. OptiMist Prime will not streak or haze, an is recommended for use on laptop screens, computer monitors, flat screens (LCD & Plasma), touch screens, coated eye-wear, photo & video optics, instrument clusters, and more. The 4oz spray bottle retails for $10 and is sufficient for several hundred applications.

    Screen Cleaner

Buy a bottle of rubbing alcohol (isopropanol) and some distilled water. Make up a mixutre of each 50% alcohol, 50% distilled water.

Wet a soft, cotton cloth with the mixture and clean your screen. Unless the MBP machines have a different surface that reacts with alcohol, then there shouldn't be any problem using this solution. I use in on my 15" TiBook, my GFs 12" AlBook and my 17" display all the time.

    Laptop Cover

Doesn't the Apple laptop already come with a piece of material between the screen and keyboard. It might not be made of the same material but it's been wonderful on my powerbook.

    Overheating

BEWARE: Screen protectors of this type can lead to overheating if you run your laptop in clamshell mode. The keyboard is designed to allow air flow.
