Studio Artist 3.5 released
Synthetik Software has released Studio Artist 3.5, which the company claims is the world's first graphics synthesizer. "Studio Artist is the first commercial program for computer artists that incorporates research results from cognitive neuroscience investigations into the nature of visual perception in the brain." The application uses human visual modeling to construct an internal representation from a source image that is used to direct smart assisted painting and drawing. The update offers dynamic liquid spreading paint effects, smart auto-regionization algorithms, an integrated "Supersizer" interpolator, enhanced support for multi-threading on dual or quad processor computers, improved animation capabilities, and greatly expanded image processing.
Version 3.5 also includes the complete MSG Evolver editing application, allowing users to design and build MSG (Modular Synthesized Graphics) image and video effects plug-ins. Studio Artist 3.5 is available for $380, while existing users of version 3.0 can upgrade for $100 (system requirements were unavailable).
