Brother International today announced its soon-to-be-launched line of flatbed laser Multi-Function Center products, which includes the MFC-8460N ($400), MFC-8860DN ($500), and the MFC-8870DW ($600). Each new model in the line-up touts up to 30ppm print speeds, 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution, an up to 50-sheet multipurpose tray, and a built-in Ethernet network interface. Two of the models also add duplex capability for 2-sided printing, copying, faxing and scanning, placing them well-above similar all-in-one devices in their class, according to the company. The MFC-8870DW includes standard 802.11b/g wireless networking.
Each MFC has a flatbed design that accommodates either single sheets or bound documents for copying, faxing, or scanning. The up to 50-sheet ADF also makes it easy to handle multi-page documents. All of the models are compatible with both PC and Mac operating systems. This series of laser MFPs support up to 340 total speed dial locations, and also incorporates dual access and broadcast faxing features. It also stores up to 600 pages for Quick Scan faxing or out-of-paper fax reception. When operating as a scanner, these units are capable of color scanning up to 19,200 x 19,200 dpi interpolated resolution.
