New Gefen wireless extenders, switchers

Gefen announced it will be showing new products at IS Europe: the Wireless Video Extender, Wireless USB Extender, Component Video Extender, and 8x1 DVI Switcher. The Wireless Video Extender provides wireless solution for existing audio/video components equipped with composite and/or s-video connections. Full audio support is provided through the same sender and receiver system. Based on 802.11a standards, the unit enables high-bandwidth wireless transmission capable of penetrating through two walls and/or floors without interference.

The Wireless USB Extender supports the cable-free transfer of data using small sender and receiver units connected to the computer and the extended USB device. No cables are needed to deliver data from the sender to the receiver, which can be connected to cameras, keyboards, printers or any USB 2.0 device-up to 30 feet from the computer (pricing and availability for both Wireless extenders was not yet available).

The Component Video Extender utilizes inconspicuous sender and receiver units connected at the source and to the extended display. One category-5 cable links sender to the receiver, bridging distanced up to 100 meters with a single cable solution ($375).

The 8x1 DVI Switcher provides rapid switching between eight HD sources using one HD display. Ideal for enabling the single DVI input on a HD display to interface with one of eight sources at any given time, this rack-mountable unit is controlled by its own IR remote. Wired RMT and RS-232 control options are also provided (availability and pricing were not yet available).
