iTunes U expands

Apple's iTunes U has expanded, now offering not only a Stanford iTunes store, but also content for other universities, such as the University of Michigan's Dental School. Many universities are now offering podcasts of lectures, notes, and other pertinent information. iTunes U is a free hosted service for colleges and universities that provides access to educational content-- including lectures nad interviews- for download onto PCs or Macs. Content is then transferable onto an iPod for portability and ease.

iTunes U uses the same technology as the iTunes Music Store, and can be customized with school colors, logos and photography. The iTunes U store offers integrated podcasting support, protection for online learning investments, and one-click iPod support. Instructors can post and edit their content at any time without affecting the IT department, as all content is stored in the Apple-hosted repository. Apple's Education department is increasingly student-friendly, with product discounts and technology for professors to podcast to students.
