Digidesign (booth 6606, Hall A) today introduced a range of new products designed to work with Pro Tools 7 software as well as the purchase of Trillium Lane Labs, a developer of effects and utilities plug-ins for Pro Tools systems, including the TL Space convolution reverb and the TL EveryPhase phaser plug-in. Pro Tools 7 is a digital audio workstation solution with recording and editing capabilities for audio and MIDI, supporting a full array of hardware interfaces and peripherals, for which Digidesign is releasing several new products.
Xpand! provides a user interface to manipulate thousands of high-quality sounds directly from within Pro Tools. The instrument offers virtual analog, FM, and wavetable synthesis, sample playback, tonewheel organ emulation and effects. With over 1,000 factory patches and four component sound parts per instance, users can craft anything from acoustic instruments to synthesized soundscapes or loop-driven techno tracks (availability and pricing were unavailable).
Digidesign also introduced Hybrid ($250), a forthcoming release from Digidesign’s Advanced Instrument Research group (formerly German virtual instrument design group Wizoo). Hybrid is a premium RTAS software synthesizer for Pro Tools systems that combines analog synths from the 1970s with a range of twenty-first century analog and digital capabilities.
Digidesign is also now shipping Synchro Arts VocALign PRO, a new version of the VocALign automatic audio alignment tool. VocALign PRO provides audio, post production, and multimedia professionals with tools to complete audio alignment tasks-- automatically, within the Pro Tools environment as an AudioSuite plug-in or as a stand-alone application. VocALign automatically stretches or compresses one audio signal to match the timing patterns of another, allowing for audio dubbing, sound effects tracks, and lip-synched performances for music videos (currently out of stock, check website for availability and pricing).
The DV Toolkit 2 include 3 plug-ins for working with sound for picture: the TL Space Native Edition convolution rever, DINR LE intelligent noise reduction tool, and the Syncro Arts VocALign Project for Pro Tools time alignment. DV Toolkit 2 includes many new features, such as allowing users to expand Pro Tools sessions up to 48 mono or 48 stereo tracks at up to 96kHz for accomodating complex post producion projects. DV Toolkit 2 will be available 'soon' for $1,300.
With the new Music Production Toolkit consumers use a collection of plug-ins and enhanced editing tools for expanding the abilities of Pro Tools LE or Pro Tools M-Powered system. Features include an increased track count, and the ability to easily export mixes as MP3 files. The Music Production Toolkit includes a host of plug-ins for creating and producing music, including: Hybrid, a high-definition synthesizer from Digidesign’s new Advanced Instrument Research group; TL Space Native Edition, a convolution reverb; Smack! LE, a compressor/limiter; SoundReplacer, a sound replacement tool; and DINR LE, a noise reduction plug-in. The Music Production Toolkit will be available 'soon' for $500.
Various Pro Tools versions are either Mac-, Windows-, or Mac- and Windows-compatible. Pro Tools is not a universal binary and is not currently compatible with new Intel Macs.
