Wacom introduces Intuos3 pen tablets

New Intuos tablets
Wacom Technology today announced the new , specifically designed for photographers, designers, artists and engineers who are using multiple large monitors or a large widescreen display, such as the 30-inch Apple Cinema HD display. Utilizing physical dimensions of about 17- x 24-inch and an active area of 228 square inches, the Intuos3 12x19 includes all the features of the original Intuos3 line of pen tablets, including a cordless, battery-free Grip Pen, 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity for control, programmable ExpressKeys for modifier keystrokes and keyboard shortcuts, and finger-sensitive Touch Strips for scrolling, zooming, controlling brush size and more.
Wacom also announced the Intuos3 12x12, designed for computer-aided design (CAD) professionals, with the ability to insert templates under the translucent overlay for digitizing. The Intuos3 12x12 will include all of the advanced features offered by the other Intuos3 models, including the navigation capabilities of the 12x19. All Intuos3 tablets now are built using enhanced electronics for twice the resolution (5,080 lpi) of previous Intuos models (Intuos and Intuos2).
The company also announced two new Intuos3 accessories: the cordless, battery free Intuos3 Lens Cursor and Wacom's 6D Art Pen. The Intuos3 Lens Cursor features five programmable buttons and an adjustable crosshair for ultra-precise work on the Intuos3 12x19 or 12x12. Wacom’s 6D Art Pen generates free-flowing brush strokes and provides six dimensions of pen control.
The Intuos3 12x19 retails for $780, and the 12x12 for $580, while the Intuos3 Lens Cursor and Wacom’s 6D Art Pen both retail for $70. Each product is expected to ship at the end of the month.
