Kerio acquires WebSTAR line from 4D

Kerio acquires WebSTAR

from 4D, Inc., a database and software solution provider based in Clichy, France. 4D WebSTAR, which features popular webserver for the Mac, is a complete messaging system designed for Mac OS X. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal; however, Kerio said it gains access to 4D WebSTAR's customer base and technology that it will work with existing 4D WebSTAR customers to seamlessly transition them to Kerio MailServer. It will develop simple migration tool for these customers and will be offered at no additional cost. Kerio plans to incorporate relevant parts of WebSTAR technology into Kerio MailServer as well.

"The addition of the large WebSTAR user community is a natural fit for Kerio Technologies' growing SMB customer base," said Michael Osterman, President of Osterman Research. "Another example of the continued consolidation in the messaging market, this acquisition will strengthen Kerio Technologies' competitive position in the Mac market."

In addition, Kerio said will provide specialized technical support to existing 4D WebSTAR and 4D Mail customers until the close of 2006 and plans to maintain the stability of the latest release of these products for one year.

"4D is pleased that the WebSTAR customer base will now be served by Kerio Technologies, the premier messaging company for SMBs," said Laurent Ribardiere, Chairman and CEO, 4D SA. "This acquisition allows 4D to focus on its core RAD and Database product lines."

What about the web and ftp components of WebSTAR???
