I can't remember a single time when the stream actually functioned appropriately under the intense loads of the worldwide MacWorld audience.
It always has provided a bit of bad PR for Quicktime streaming. It probably costs them a pretty penny to pull it off anyway.
Given the popularity of iTunes, I can envision a version being made available shortly after the keynote that would be streamed via iTunes. Apple would simply have to add it to their library of feeds and place an advertisement to it in the iTunes homepage.
I still think they'll have one on their website since it gets such huge traffic, but for that captive audience that has purchased iPods but not necessarily a Mac, what a perfect way to demonstrate your newest wares.
That they don't put more effort into QT as a streaming platform and showcase it's abilities via MacWorld (especially since their pigheadedness caused the event to go from biannual to annual). MacNN/Slashdot text feeds here we come. Joy. 1997 all over again.
It was IDG who killed the summer MacWorld, not Apple. They were stupid to move it back to Boston when NYC was such a great location, and seemingly out of pride just cancelled the show instead of admitting they were wrong and moving it back to NYC.

Honestly, some of us didn't want to waste a whole day, or more, to get to and from NYC. Expensive pain-in-the-a** locations need not apply. In other words, I had a problem wid dat, yeah. Suck it up.
Boston is much more convienient. OTOH, I didn't go to the final MacWorld Boston due to inability to get out of work for a day.
I've watched the text feeds since Apple stopped trying to stream them, though I'm thinking about plugging my eyes and ears this time and waiting for the replay.... Anyone done this successfully?
Well, if you attempt this you need to:
1. Have no contact with other Apple fans. They will likely know and ask what you think about the new "iBlah".
2. Don't read a single news site period. Definitly no tech sites, and even avoid the mainstream CNN/FOX/BBC/whatever.
3. Stay off IM, or IRC.
4. Avoid web boards completly.
5. Try to bookmark the likely sites for the Quicktime stream before it happens to avoid seeing Apple.com's front page. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/guide/appleevents/ is good to bookmark.
