Jobs to fall from his pedestal in 2006?

Jobs to fall in 2006?

Though Apple's future looks bright to many industry analysts and pundits, a tech columnist for a major newspaper says that 2006 could be the year that . Despite the surging sales and expanding marketshare, USA Today's Kevin Maney says that the success can't continue forever: "Sometime in 2006, Steve Jobs will probably get hosed. That's not so much a prediction as it is playing the odds. Nobody in America gets such a long ride on the oh-we-sooooo-adore-you bandwagon.... Well, except maybe Jennifer Aniston. But look what happened to Martha Stewart. Or Hootie and the Blowfish.... For that reason, Jobs' popularity will be one development to watch in 2006." The columnist also predicts that 2006 will be the year that cellphone cameras will actually become useful, RSS will become the next big thing, and Google will help Microsoft get its grooveback.

    Excuse me?

This is the most rediculous "prediction" I've ever read. The author is either jealous, ignorant, or 14 years old.

    Yeah, right

Steve Jobs is not Jennifer Aniston, Hootie and the Blowfish, nor Martha Stewart. None of those people have changed the world. Steve Jobs single-handedly created the personal computer industry, and then redefined it again & again & again. What the h*** does Martha Stewart do? Hang some drapes?

    Oh, wait...

...this prediction goes along with "Apple will be out of business".

Sure, at one point, there is a chance that Steve Jobs' popularity will turn against him, but all this dork is doing *IS* playing the odds. If he keeps repeating this every year, at one point he will be able to claim to have been right,

I highly doubt that 2006 will be that year, simply because the rest of that idiot's predictions are equally demonstrating total ignorance.

Yep, USAToday, the bastion of reliable news reporting...

    and also

one of these days, one of these religious retards might be right and predict the 2nd Coming correctly.

    But I doubt it.

Didn't some tech analysts predict there was no way iPod sales could keep growing, the market had grown so fast that it would be saturated by now?

    wrong. again.

aka. Web Logs or some might say it simply "blog" may someday sweep the world as a way for people to write about whatever they want!...

"yeah and then there's this other thing called Broadband or something. It's suppose to be better than a 56k modem, but why bother? I'm fine at this speed."

    You know Jobs IS popular

when a so-called "tech" columnist makes the status of Steve Jobs's polularity the headlining "tech" prediction for 2006. I have a feeling Apple and Jobs are just getting started (and have a long way to go).

    yeah, sure

This article could be filed in the same place as all the "ipod killer" product reviews. :-)

    Riiiiight

I think this could also be filed in the same place as the "Apple will die in....." stories.

C'mon, this is business, not entertainment. Eisner was heralded as disney's saviour for 15 years or so wasn't he before people got fed up with him. So Jobs has still got a good 7 or 8 years left in him.

The man manages his PR and image so well that I daresay his "fall from grace" is a long way off, if ever happening at all.
