Trans Intl. today announced its , an updated version of its storage expansion system that brings up to 2 terabyte (2TB) of SATA storage to dual and quad-core Power Mac G5s. "Through innovative engineering the SwiftData200R neatly fits an additional three drives inside a Macintosh G5 Dual and Quad-core computer. Combined with the two drives already in the Macintosh G5's SATA internal drive bay -- that's a total of 5 internal hard disk drives." The drives can used in for RAID mirroring and/or striping or as a JBOD. A free PCI express slot is required for the SATA PCI express RAID card, which is used to control the additional drives. The assembly alone is $80, while the Kit (cables, RocketRAID 2320 card) is $355. SATA Drives are available separately from the company starting at $95 for 160GB of storage capacity.
