Spamphibian for Mac OS X

Outspring has announced , a solution designed to help Mac OS X users fight spam. The product works with an administrator's existing email server to eradicate spam and other unwanted email with virtually no false-positives. Spamphibian can be configured to quarantine, flag, delete or bounce unwanted email and is compatible with practically every email server and ISP. Spamphibian Gateway is a spam fighting solution that evaluaates all incoming emails. Spamphibian utilizes a database of spam identifiers which is continuously updated by Outspring's staff of spam analysts. The product is expected to ship on December 7 for $650, which includes a 1-year subscription to the Spamcaster Service that provides automatic and frequent database updates.

Outspring processes thousands of emails every day to find new spam identifiers. Spamphibian receives automatic database updates, without the need for installation or configuration. Outspring's database also contains identifiers to detect scam ("phishing") emails and virus attachments. By comparing email to the
continuously updated identifier database, Spamphibian can effectively
counter the latest filter evasion techniques used by spammers, according to Outspring.

"We wanted to create something like the Barracuda product, but for Mac OS X", says Outspring CEO, Jeff Baudin. "We've designed Spamphibian to be easy-to-use and simple to configure, yet powerful enough to stop most spam."

Spamphibian supports an unlimited number of domains and domain-specific filtering options. Other features include user-definable white lists and black lists, multiple DNS Blacklist support, import/export of rules, graphical reporting, and full control over disposition of unwanted email: quarantine, tag & pass, bounce or immediate deletion.

"Spamphibian gives the administrator complete control and management over
their spam. Outspring states that the product is easy to install and
requires just a few minutes a week to manage. Once installed, Spamphibian
provides a detailed summary report that enables the administrator to
fine-tune their email threat strategy, respond quickly to unique threats,
and implement changes with a minimum of day-to-day management."

Outspring notes that the product does not require that the user maintain their own email server, saying that administrators can configure Spamphibian to filter email prior to delivery to their ISP.
