iTools 8.04 for Mac OS X

Tenon today announced , a sixth-generation web-based administration tool suite for configuring and managing Apache, DNS, and FTP. iTools combines open-source technologies: JavaScript, Perl, and XML, to provide anywhere, anytime Apache administration. The new iTools 8.0.4 is designed to maximize performance on heavily loaded sites and adds new scripts, fixes a number of bugs, and improves operation in key areas, including access control, server side includes, DNS, FTP, logging, and cron job management. The software also integrates with the company's companion products: Post.Office (a powerful and easy to use mail server and list server) and WEBmail (a web-based mail client). iTools 8 is available for $350.

With iTools, web-hosting providers can automate hosting tasks and delegate administration. The software also supports sub-administrators, who can manage their own name or IP-based web sites and view their own logs, without compromising the privacy of the multi-server machine.

"iTools' secure, domain-specific, browser-based Apache administration makes Apache on Mac OS X, the easiest Apache in the world to administer."

iTools offers sophisticated, in-depth, browser-based GUI for URL rewriting, URL redirection, MIME type and Apache handler editing, SSL set-up, along with a host of other Apache-specific settings. The new iTools 8.0.4 includes Apache 2, proFTPD with TLS/SSL support, DNS management, sub-administration, and a suite of pre-packaged, pre-configured open-source applications for blogs, discussion boards, photo albums, and more.

In addition, iTools 8 includes the ability to disable and enable a web site with one click, for customers in arrears, the ability to hand-tailor a default web site template to make setting up similar sites easy and fast, optional use of encryption during browser-based configuration sessions, the flexibility to restart various server daemons either manually or automatically upon configuration changes, FastCGI support, cron job management, MySQL administration via phpMyAdmin, WebDAV support, extensive log viewing options on a virtual host-by-virtual host basis, and an automatic system update facility both for iTools updates and updates to add-on packages.

iTools 8 is available now for $350, while the companion mail server, Post.Office, and web-based mail client, WEBmail, are available in special iTools bundle for $1000. The iTools update is free for existing iTools 8 customers. Upgrades for iTools customers with older versions are $250. iTools can be used with Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4), Panther (Mac OS X 10.3) and works with both Mac OS X 'client' or Mac OS X Server.
