Apple schedules special event for Oct. 19
Apple is scheduled to hold a special press conference on October 19th in New York City. Scheduled one-day before the PhotoPlus Expo, also being held in New York City, the event is Apple's third event in two months, following the high-profile introductions of the iPod nano, iTunes 5, video iPod, new iMac G5, and iTunes 6. MacNN sources have confirmed that the event will be used to introduce the last PowerPC-based PowerBook G4 lineup with new high resolution displays and other improvements. Other reports also suggest the event will bring a photography-related announcement as well as updated Power Mac G5 systems using IBM's dual-core PowerPC chips, although the (unconfirmed) details are scarce.

Oh, and its not going to get rid of the spinning beach ball. Its unrealistic to think Apple will spend time to do anything like fix all the problems with their OS. They've got new useless features to be passing along.
That ball will be with us for life.
I'll just be happy to get a new PowerBook!
