Columns: iPod Screen size; Disney deal

"Sometimes size really does matter," says Shannon Zimmerman of the Motley Fool. Zimmerman questions the "measly 2.5 inches of screen real estate" offered by the new iPod. "My current hunch is that watching that content will involve lots of squinting." Meanwhile, David Gardner looks at the implications of Apple's new deal with Disney to offer video content on iTunes. "For those who want to see Pixar and Disney stay together after their current contract expires with May's release of Cars, this is as good a sign as any that Jobs is staging productive conversations with Disney's top brass."

Well we all know that there was no love between Eisner (Disney) and Jobs. With the departure of Eisner as Top dog and from the board (suprised many outside of the organization), I'm sure Jobs will be more willing to work with someone other than Eisner.

It seems that I remember the original release date was Nov 5, 2005. Then it was pushed to "Summer 2006" for some unknown reason.

the motley fool - same people who 18 days ago said the nano was a mistake, too small, mini too popular.

their advice on other companies may be stellar, but they like so much of the rest of industry suffer from anti-apple sentiment.

It was bound to happen...

Industry: "hey Apple, why don't you release a video iPod?"
Apple: "It's no use to put video on such a small screen!"
Industry: "C'mon, everybody is doing it!"
Rumors: "hey! Apple will produce a video iPod!"
*Apple introduces the video iPod*
Industry: "Pfff the screen is too small!"

Why would anyone care whether Apple and Disney keep their partnership. All disney did for Apple was fund projects and distribute them. Oh, and make crappy sequels to all the titles for the sake of making $$$, even if Pixar wasn't involved. There was no creative back and forth. Ergo, there's nothing to lose.

The last time I checked, Apple and Pixar were two different companies. Sure, Jobs is the type of guy to carry a grudge from one CEO job to the other; but the relationship break up was between Disney and Pixar, not Apple.

The iPod will shine when connected to a real display (assuming the picture looks decent).

There is a reason he calls himself a fool!

Have they made any complaints about the small size of the screens on phones, digital cameras or video cams? Oh, no, those are just fine.

These Apple haters need to get a life. So does the rest of the biased media world!
