iTunes 5 hints at forthcoming video store from Apple

Bloggers have discovered an image resource within iTunes 5 that suggests Apple has future plans for a video store, according to BetaNews. Three buttons with the terms "Gift Video," "Buy Video," and "Add Video" were found along with references to a "protected MPEG-4 video file" within text strings in the code of iTunes 5. There has been wide speculation about the possibility of an Apple video store, as well as an iPod with video capabilities. Although a video iPod seems unlikely in the timeframe previously rumored, many still expect that Apple will eventually announce such an offering.

What I'd like to see is Apple to start putting more unused resources in their software, just to get the speculators going on and on and on and on.

Hell, isn't that how the Powerbook G5 rumors started?

Oh, I'd just like to say that beforewe see anything else from Apple, we better see that Asteroid project. I mean, really, where the hell is it. It was in resources for Garageband and other stuff long, long, ago.

Missing the point

I think that anyone presuming that there will be a video ipod is missing the point of the iTunes music store. It's just that, a store front for selling music or in the future..near future a store front for buying hi-definition videos. I'll take mine at 1920 x 1080 Thank You. They will be in h.264 format. With a fast connection you will be able to download them for future viewing. Not meant for streaming content. That would be sweet out putting 1920x1080 directly into my Sammy DLP. Then you could burn it on your DVD burner. Now this may or may not compete with HD DVD. The HD DVD will be in a DVD format not a quicktime format.
