Have a four phone family plan with cingular. Apple should give them advice on user friendly sites. As usual cingular is muddled. Upgrade path online is impossible to navigate. I got kicked out to a phone number for upgrade. A nice young lady said there is no such thing and asked me how to spell itunes. I asked her to refresh her screen. She did and found the rokr. She got excited and asked her supervisor if she could sell it and he said no. Sounds like the government. Sigh, maybe after the smoke clears.
'fraid I don't think so. After a year of hype they finally launch with an average phone with less capabilities than the SE Walkman phones or the Samsung D500.
I can't see me rushing out to spend a cent on this. Maybe their next generation will be right... but Nokia N91 will be out by then !
From mot? What's up w/ that. The only thing they have going for them is quad band. Go to the mot site and there's more info USA (GSM 850/1800/1900) or more info UK (GSM 850/1800/1900 OR 900/1800/1900). Talk about letting carriers (Cingular we're talking about you) have too much of a hand in it. This just falls flat. So Cingular has the best US nationwide GSM network b/c of (let's be realistic) predatory business practices (nah, we're not sharing like every other carrier in the older more developed countries did...you can buy our towers or not have service). Oh yeah...a big shout goes out to the weak local governments.
I would have bought this phone directly from Apple quadband and all. But I'm sure you need the Cingular deck to make it work on the old ATT 850 funkified band. So we turn to motorolahackers or whatever and change our firmware..big deal.
Apple missed the boat. Apple missed the boat. How much do people pay for the top of the line ipod? You think they wouldn't pay the 'subsidy fee' for the phone? It's not like they cost that much to make. So the choices are:
Some Mot w/ 'Apples Blessing'
N91 (soon to be)
SE Walkman funkified color phone
Any number of other things that'll pop up in stereo.
....and you wonder why Apple would upgrade the DRM on ITMS/iTunes 5?
Oops...gonna sell a bunch to a bunch of uninformed consumers. Doesn't matter they can't just port it back and forth between countries or even carriers. Want T-mo to work everywhere w/ it? Sorry. Want to sell it on ebay to someone anywhere else in the rest of the work (you know the place with good currency and enough money to deal with disasters) sorry...
What's up w/ that unless mot doesn't have it right on their own website then the phone is a dog.
Most motos from V400 up are unlocked. Cingular does not tell you this, as the US model for phones was it was locked into each carrier -- a c*** model for sure. People flew in and bought up to 4 $500 Moto RAZR phones, so this will sell like Mad in no time. It's got a flash camera, so this phone might replace my Nokia 3650 afterall, assuming, of course, I can get it for LESS than $200. It's not worth more than $149 new in my opinion w/ 1 year agreement.

Carphone Warehouse's website is showing it as an exclusive with O2 in the UK (£209.99 as a pay as you go, free with a £35 a month contract)
Hopefully the other networks here will get it soon as O2 is a bit c***.
