Safari update
Apple today released updated versions of its Safari Web browser for both Mac OS X Tiger (10.4) and Panther (10.3). for Mac OS X Panther makes the same improvements as its Tiger counterpart. It requires Mac OS X 10.3.9, the final release of Panther, and is 3.8MB.

Well this update carashed twice already. One a straight just quit (At the second site I went to after install) and disappeared. The other (at eBay) just a beachball endless spin and I had to force quit.
The previous version of Safari never quit on me. And websites seem to load with a very long delay with this new version. Again something I didn't experience before. Anf here at Macnn, the site really takes a long time to load.
OS 10.4.2 on 1.67ghz PowerBook. I keep the Safari cache & Safari icons folders read only too.So I'm not sure of this release. And I never have had issues with any of the Apple OS upgrades or application updates released. Not sure if I can revert.

Have you got any 3rd party plug-in's installed? Thats what normally causes Safari to barf.
And you probably want to test it with the icons and cache read/write enabled.

Yes, the new update...isn't! Scroll bar "still" breaks up and it has crippled download speeds to approximately 35% of their pre-update(!) rate. I would routinely get up to about 114KB/sec off a good server now it's down to an average of 35KB/sec off the same server (and others). What gives? Safari wasn't "broken" under Panther so why have they pulled the wheels off in Tiger?

I was hoping that it also fixed the ability to print out shipping labels in PayPal but I guess it doesn't Worse yet it seems to be causing slowdows for browsing verses making things better. Think i'll wait on this one.

So MacNN reports that this update "fixes the paypal shopping cart 'continue shopping' button, which previously only worked with Internet Explorer 5 for Windows."
I've gotta say, if this button truly only worked with IE5 for Windows (to the exclusion of Firefox, Opera, IE for Mac, etc.), then me thinks the bug might have been more in PayPal than Safari. All the same, good work with the bug fixes, Apple dudes!
