Nokia denies iTunes deal
Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia said it had no formal agreement to offer that indicated Nokia would bring iTunes to the N91 model, according to Reuters. The report also indicated that Nokia had already seen iTunes-like applications in research labs: "There is no commercial agreement between Nokia and Apple to integrate iTunes into the N-series devices," said Kari Tuutti, spokesman for Nokia's multimedia division. "But since this is based on a computer platform, anybody -- including Apple if they so wish -- can very easily develop this kind of application and offer it to consumers, via the Internet for example."

Hey, here's an idea.. why not just make a symbian version of itunes. I mean..it's not like other companies don't port their DRM software to symbian. That way people could just download the SOFTWARE not the songs and sync the same way they normally would. If Apple had negotiated a deal w/ Nok years ago we'd have sweet 'itunes' phones now instead of waiting for Motorola (hmnn....sounds familiar) to deliver a meager port of an existing phone. Instead of a cool phone we're gonna end up w/ something from the company that's most popular phone is just a downsize of the original StarTac. But hey...at least my RAZR is quad-band.

Most of the new Nokia phones are able to play AAC files just fine. Do the math! Nokia is smartly hedging their bets.
