CatDV Workgroup Server 3.5

Square Box Systems today announced , its server application designed to complement its CatDV Pro application and provide a cost effective multi-user video logging and archiving system. Every clip stored in the database is described and annotated by a rich selection of metadata which includes clip name, notes, tape or reel identifier, in and out timecode values, recording date, and technical metadata describing the file format. Each clip also has a thumbnail poster image, and can refer to a low-resolution video preview. The CatDV Workgroup Server is compatible with both MySQL 4.0 and Oracle 10g relational databases, and is available starting at $700.

Previews are compressed to as little as 100MB per hour, small enough to allow a complete archive of thousands of hours of material to be maintained online, while still allowing any clip to be instantly accessed and played back.

CatDV Workgroup Server 3.5 is written in Java and is compatible with a wide variety of server platforms. This version of the server features compatibility with both CatDV Pro 3.0 and 4.0 clients, and has a new simplified universal installer. A single installer is provided which supports Mac OS X, Windows NT/2000/ME/XP, and generic flavors of Linux and UNIX.
